Key Stage 1
Stepping Stones Tutors ensures early school children have a basic understanding of maths that will be the foundation for the years ahead.
We make maths fun by using lots of equipment, games to recognise numbers and symbols and to gain an understanding of addition and subtraction and to learn number bonds confidently, as well as simple multiplication , division and fractions.
Government guidelines are followed to make sure students have covered all the recommended skills before going on to Key Stage 2.
Key Stage 2
Stepping Stones Tutors seeks to make learning maths fun by helping students understand what they do at school by adopting a variety of strategies according to individual requirements, including the use of games as well as practical activities. The importance of knowing times tables as an aid to improving maths is emphasised with various means adopted to facilitate learning.
Mental arithmetic and problem solving also form part of the lesson with children taught different methods to make the doing of sums quicker and easier.
These lessons build confidence and prepare young people for exams.
Key Stage 3
Stepping Stones Tutors seeks to make learning maths fun by helping students understand what they do at school by adopting a variety of strategies according to individual requirements, including the use of games as well as practical activities.
Revision includes problem solving, shape, space and measure, number and algebra and handling data.
The course will aim to build the student’s confidence in the work he/she is doing at school by making sure the student has a sure foundation and building on this by examining new concepts in all the areas of KS3 that the young person may not have understood.
We will aim to fully prepare the student for KS4.
GCSE
Stepping Stones Tutors specialises in helping students who are finding Maths at GCSE level a challenge. The strategy is to identify areas of weakness and work with the student until s/he has understood and is able to move on. The teaching will be tailored to the actual exam board specification that the student is doing at school. Wherever possible, work will be based around past paper questions.
