Jean Giachardi
Jean began her career in secondary school education teaching both English and R.E. After a few years she spent some years in the primary sector teaching both infants and juniors all the subjects on the curriculum.
After having her own children Jean taught at a private school that catered for children from ages 4 through to 18. Jean mostly taught Years 3 to 6, and was the Head of English in the primary school, specialising in helping children to read and write to a high standard (most children in her classes achieved level 5 in the SATS test in Year 6 in both reading and writing). Under the School Inspection, her lessons in maths and history achieved a high grade.
She also taught both GCSE and A-Level English language and literature where most children achieved grades A*, A and B.
As well as teaching in schools, Jean has for many years tutored children in English and maths, helping them to both gain confidence and improve their grades. She is the author of a scheme designed to help children for whom English is not their first language with their reading. This scheme has proved most effective.
Jean’s aim in teaching children has always been to both help them achieve their potential and to gain confidence in their ability to do so. Uppermost in her thinking has always been to make learning fun.
